In The Navy

I have to say that I am very proud of my most recent "creation".
-
My inspiration for this outfit was a dress I saw in New Look but after seeing that it cost £25 I was majorly put off and decided I could possibly make a similar version myself.

-
I got myself some navy and white striped jersey material as well as some plain navy jersey. I planned to make a bodycon style strapless dress out of the striped material and a mid waisted skirt out of the navy, this meant I could wear the striped dress on its own with a chunky belt or shorts or something. The final outfit turned out like this:

(apologies for lack of make up, odd hair and weird weird toes lol)
-
I have to say a lot of the making of was guess work using some of my clothes which I already owned as patterns adding seam allowances and it didn't help that my sewing machine was having a major strop during the making, so a lot of the stitching is bad and wonky but you cant really see that on the final piece......and who looks that close when your wearing something anyway.

I teamed the dress and skirt with a little navy and gold clinch belt from New Look, a pair of navy flip flops, a big chunky silver bangle and a little gold bag. The event I was at was a little wrong for this outfit as it was my 8year old cousin's birthday party but I just had to wear this outfit as it was lovely and sunny and i had only finished it that morning - lol!
-

-
I am looking forward to wearing this outfit again and I plan to take it along to a proper photo shoot which my mum and myself are having this Friday. I would really like some snazzy shoots of it as I did make it on my own and am very happy about its outcome :D

2nd Chance Skirt:

I am very proud of myself tonight as I've just completed my first piece of customised clothing. YAY! :)
-
I purchased this skirt for £2 in a local charity shop close to where I work. I took it home and cut it shorter and stuck a new elasticated waistband in and bunched it all up and bing bang boom a few hours later I created made this:
-
I am so happy with the way it turned out. I have purchased a few more floral skirts and dresses from charity shops recently so will be making a few of these in diff styles & colours, it gives the material a 2nd chance and helps support charities which always makes you feel good. :) Happy Days!

Scrapbooking:

Here is a range of my scrapbooking pages, there is a mixture of 8x8 and 12x12 pages. I do love my crafting especially my scrapbooking which probably comes from my love of photographs and photography. I do plan to scrapbook all the key events in my life but I cant seem to keep up, I have so many trips and days out to scrapbook I have no idea what to scrapbook next lol.

Gingham Top:

-
The first piece of clothing I created and designed was this green gingham tunic style top. It took me a few days with alot help from my mum ♥ who hand finished it and also did most the "tricky" bits as I was rather new to dress making last year. I really do love this top and have worn it quite alot, I've even wore it on the streets of New York and stunned the group I was with when they commented on it and asked where I got it from, I just love replying to that question with "I made it myself" Gets them every time :)

My "Style" Philosophy:

I am a girl who does pride myself in clothes and fashion, I have so much its crazy. I often pop out shopping and always come back with something.
I have always been stuck in the "matchy match" ways until recently where I've been taking inspiration from people around me, the Internet and television. I'm really trying to branch out with what I wear and put together.
-
I've also started to make some of my own clothes, I do stick to very basic designs and styles (and have alot of help from my amazing mum ♥). I try to mix it up my simple creations with some cool accessories to make it more "fashion".
-
So this will be my way of showing my "style" and things which inspire me.

St Trinians

Me and a few friends thought it would be fun to go out dressed up as the girls from St Trinians.(Lord knows why looking back on it now!)
-
Shock horror being typical Kellie, I wanted to have an outfit almost perfect to the film so it was time to pull out the sewing machine and get to work making myself a little black dress just like the one worn in the film by the "posh tottys".
-
Inspiration:

This was my effort:

I have to say I was pleased with the way it turned out, I liked my dress more than the night out lol - none of the girls could believe it was made by my Mum and myself. Result :]
